Delight- Light
Light qualities that the timber battens cast into the building. At different times of the day the shadows morph and change angles, length and depth of shade. The sliding glass walls merge the external surroundings to the internal setting. The cabin itself is very much open throughout and then closed off as and when required.
Delight- Views
Utilize glass windows and ceilings to enhance the view of the landscape and sky to create a sense of being in the landscape rather than being closed off from it. From every point in the cabin one is confronted by external views (except for the study, toilet/shower). This draw attention to the surrounding environment. The sunscreen provides a psychological barrier once the windows are completely open as not to make the occupants feel overtly exposed to the elements.
